Google completes switch to mobile-first indexing

Well that certainly took a bit of time. Seven years, to be precise. It was that long ago since Google first announced its plans to do mobile-first indexing.

So yes, it’s upon us, and what exactly does that mean? As the term implies, the search giant now prioritises mobile versions of web pages over desktop when crawling around cyberspace.

Fair to say that the vast vast vast majority of websites out there are mobile friendly – defined as working well on a mobile platform. So really nothing much for you to do here unless you are living in the stone ages and have a site that is indeed not mobile friendly.

And even for the time being Google will continue crawling desktop versions. So either way, you are safe.
