Is there a formula for going viral?

If you ask us, not really. We don’t believe there is much predictability here. That said, we do believe there are things you can do that just might tilt the odds in your favour. Let’s take a look at six considerations:

  1. Capitalise on trending topics and hashtags: Because people are interested in what’s trending, your content may be more likely to grab their attention. Note – you got to be quick.
  2. Evoke emotions to encourage action: Strong marketing campaigns inspire an emotion in people, whether that’s happiness, anger, fear – you name it.
  3. Collaborate with influencers: Partner with an influencer or brand in a similar niche to yours – if they have massive reach, you can leverage that.
  4. Engage your audience through active interaction: Communicate with your followers. Over half of social media users say the most memorable brands take the time to respond to their customers.
  5. Run contests or challenges: Encouraging participation in this way may increase the chances of your content going viral.
  6. Offer exclusive promotions or giveaways: You can drive engagement and increase the chance of virality by offering discounts or promotions.

Bottom line: No guarantees, and the odds are always well stacked against your content going viral. But try different techniques long enough, and you’re going to have a viral hit eventually.
