Will Google Gemini affect your website earnings?

Here’s what you need to know: Google’s AI assistant, also known as Deep Research, browses the web and harvests content and then uses it to produce reports for us. Sounds neat and resourceful and indeed very useful, but it might not be so great for those websites which Google links to in the responses generated. That’s right, although you are being referenced, you could actually see a negative result.

And the obvious reason for this is that Google is using Gemini to pull data and information without giving back to the overall ecosystem. Since the summaries list the information the user is looking for without them having to click on the site where it came from, that site would in fact be missing out on advertising revenue and web traffic.

So if you’re running a site that relies on clicks, affiliate links, and advertising revenue, losing web traffic could be very bad for your business indeed. If Gemini is providing your content to users without those users having to click on your link, you’re doing the work but seeing none of the benefits.

Let’s see where this heads.
