Corporate podcasts – who’s listening?

Corporate marketing teams are seriously considering podcasting. And why not: Around 30% of individuals aged 12 and above in the US listen to podcasts weekly.

Daily, we are just about always on the go, and so we have numerous opportunities to digest audio content and learn something new – commuting to work or working out at the gym, for example. Podcasts are literally the perfect medium for our times.

Here are three tips to help you get it right:

  • Keep it short: Even if you have ample material, start with 15 to 20 minutes sessions and go from there. Don’t bite off too much at the beginning.
  • Don’t underestimate prep time: You can’t just start recording without a plan. Have your talking points ready, and have the entire session well mapped out.
  • Find your talent: Not everyone can moderate. Find a host with the right spark – and in fact two hosts are better than one. They need to have terrific voices, excellent chemistry, and the ability to get guests talking.
