Despite being around for some years, there is a lot to learn about this discipline of content marketing. A quick way to get up to speed is to concentrate on two key pillars.
Pillar 1: It starts with understanding what content actually is. Sounds simple enough, but is it? Well, content marketing is not promotional. It’s not a promo mailer or a helpful article with ‘Call us now!’ every paragraph. It’s also not social media (although you may distribute through social). It’s helpful, engaging content that is indirectly promotional. Get that and you’re 80% there.
Pillar 2: We mentioned distribution. Okay, so you have great content – now it’s time to get it out through social, email, media syndication, and SEO work.
