LinkedIn closing in on a billion

It’s the social media platform that reminds us that we have to work for a living. And it continues to grow and develop into an absolute powerhouse.

The latest figures put its user base at 930 million – with 30 million of those members having been added in this year alone. Its presence now spans more than 200 countries and territories around the globe.

Membership gains come from around the world, but India holds the top spot with enormous user number increases over the past year. The U.S. took second place and Brazil came in third.

Of course, when it comes to social media, total members and active users are two different things. LinkedIn as a policy does not share active user data – a metric most of the other key platforms provide data on. LinkedIn did however say that it is seeing “record levels of engagement, with sessions up 15%.”
