Writing with authority

It’s one thing to know what you’re writing about – it’s another to demonstrate it.

That might sound like showing off, but what we’re talking about here is getting your content seen by its desired audience. Google constantly assesses what is the most authoritative content on a particular topic in order to rank it at the top – and that’s where you want to be.

Essentially, Google is looking for expertise, trustworthiness and, yes, authority. So make sure you clearly demonstrate:

  • Your experience by referencing other content you have written on the topic
  • Your research by quoting the latest studies from their original sources
  • Your credentials, by ensuring your bio is fully up to date with any relevant experience

Three quick things to do to boost your ‘authority’ and help ensure you’re ranking near the top.
