YouTube will let you shop in Shorts

No surprise of course that these sort of features would be rolled out. We are talking about YouTube and its ecommerce addition to Shorts.

That’s right — users will soon be able to shop in their Shorts. The feature will allow viewers to buy products as they scroll through the feed.

Not a bad deal for content creators, who will be securing 45% of the ad revenue. YouTube will also be testing commission options for influencers who sell goods via links in their videos.

The feature, which will more or less mirror TikTok’s ecommerce initiatives, is expected to roll out first in the U.S., Canada, Australia, India, and Brazil.

YouTube has been steadily incorporating ecommerce into its platform. In 2020 it rolled out shoppable ads, and in 2021 it introduced livestream shopping.
